Taiwan Beauty Products
When I was in Taipei recently, my friend Francesca was showing me some of the Taiwan beauty products and other Asian beauty trends that are popular there. I love checking out new beauty products and trends, especially ones that we can’t get here in the States because they’re not available or just haven’t made it over here yet. I thought I’d share a round-up of all the Taiwan beauty products I purchased and tried during my trip so you can check them out too!
Face masks. Face masks have recently become popular in the U.S. over the last year or two, but face masks in Taiwan are even more popular. One of their most popular brands is My Beauty Diary, so I picked up a couple boxes of their brightening and moisturizing masks.
Ombre lipstick. This was one of the more unique beauty trends I spotted in Asia and apparently it originated in Korea. Ombre lipstick is supposed to give you a faded or ombre lip color look, which is pretty different and fun. Here’s a YouTube video of how it looks. It was so interesting to me that a brand I’m used to seeing every day in the States like Maybelline makes these different lipsticks for a trend I’ve never even seen or heard of before.
Peel-off nail polish. No time for sitting down and using nail polish remover? Yeah, me neither. This nail polish just peels right off when you’re ready to remove it!
Nail decals. Nail decals are obviously a thing in the States too, but I thought these ones were especially pretty and cute. I actually got these from dollar stores in Tokyo.
Female facial razor. I’ve seen a couple beauty bloggers dabble with this beauty trend, but not a lot. For some reason, I feel like in the U.S. there’s kind of a taboo around a woman shaving her face, but waxing, lasering, or threading is totally normal to talk about. Shiseido makes these face razors especially for the ladies, and I tried one out on my upper lip. It worked great and is perfect for travel when you’re in between waxes!
Biore UV sunscreen. This was one of my favorite Taiwan beauty products that Francesca introduced me to! This Biore sunscreen comes in a small blue bottle and feels completely unlike any other sunscreen I’ve ever tried. Once you apply it, it quickly dries and has a smooth, silky finish and is not greasy at all. Hallelujah! Feeling all greasy after applying sunscreen is the worst. I bought a couple of bottles and used them throughout Australia and Fiji. I never got burned and I didn’t feel like a gross little greaseball.
Pearl powder. We couldn’t find this product while I was there, but I’m really intrigued by this Taiwan beauty product. You can purchase pearl powder, and people add a little bit of water to it to make a paste and apply it to a zit or use it as a face mask. Apparently, it zaps your pimple overnight and dries it up. I’m dying to try it and I just bought some on Amazon!
