Sharing an in-depth Summersalt swimwear review! Read on for everything I love (and don’t love) about this brand.

With things slowly but surely opening back up and warmer weather on its way, I think we’re all ready for a tropical vacay.

I saw a meme on IG recently that said, “Vaxxed and waxed and ready for action,” and I lolled.

This is the energy I’m bringing into summer. We all deserve this.

I can’t wait to throw some bikinis into a suitcase and jet.

I wanted to write up a little Summersalt Swimwear review (and also look back at some of my favorite vacation pics wearing their swimsuits) in case you’re planning your next warm-weather vacation too and looking for some new suits.

I’ve worn my Summersalt swimsuits all over the world. From Fiji, to Sydney, to Italy, to Belize, to Hawaii. I always get so many compliments on them!

Every time I post a pic on Instagram wearing a Summersalt bathing suit, I always get questions about it. Mostly, people want to know: Are Summersalt swimsuits worth the price?

Summersalt bathing suits start at ~$100 and go up to $125, so at that price, I get why people want to know if I think they’re worth it.

Shop this swimwear look:

The short answer is, yes, I do think that Summersalt swimsuits are worth the price. But only for certain pieces, as some of their styles miss the mark for me.

I think I own at least a dozen Summersalt bathing suits, so I’m giving you the scoop on everything I love (and don’t love) about them.

After trying so many Summersalt swimsuits, my absolute favorites are their high leg high rise bottoms (and the lace-up version), the sidestroke one piece, the sidestroke bikini top, and the marina one piece.

So let’s get into all the pros and cons and deets in this Summersalt swimwear review!

Summersalt Swimwear Pros:

Size-inclusive:

I appreciate that Summersalt’s sizes range from 0 – 24! From what I’ve seen, it’s pretty rare for a swimsuit company to have such a wide range of sizes available.

Diversity:

One of the first things I noticed about Summersalt’s website is that their models are pretty diverse. They have different ethnicities, sizes, body types, and ages represented in their models, which I think is really great. I also noticed they don’t photoshop out things like stretch marks.

They even offer a swim tunic, which is basically a burkini for Muslim women who want to cover up while still getting in the water. I’ve legit never seen a swimwear brand offer that as an option before.

Sustainability:

Summersalt uses recycled materials to create its fabrics and product packaging. Love this sustainable practice.

Coverage:

I like the amount of butt/cheek coverage that Summersalt’s swimwear provides. Whether it’s a one-piece or a bikini bottom, I feel like their pieces really nail the perfect amount of butt coverage.

Fit:

The fit on their tried and true styles is great. Apparently, they took over 1.5 million body measurements from 10,000 women to help them determine the Summersalt fit.

Their suits are comfortable, and their pieces are my favorite to wear when I know I’m going to be active.

For example, I know when I’m snorkeling and free diving, I’m not going to have a nip slip accident when I wear my Summersalt bikini top.

In my experience, Summersalt swimwear has been true to size, and maybe even a little extra give/room. I wear an 8 in their bikini top and bottoms, as well as their one-pieces. For reference, I’m usually in between sizes when it comes to bikini bottoms and one-pieces, and sometimes have to size up to a 10 for a fit that doesn’t give me a muffin top.

Lots of cute styles:

When Summersalt first launched, they only had a few different styles. Now that they’ve grown, they’ve expanded into more styles and prints. I love their leopard print options, and this cotton candy sky print is so fun.

Quality:

I’ve found Summersalt swimsuits to be good quality. I’ve traveled with them all over the place, and their suits have lasted me years.

They’re female-founded:

Summersalt is founded by two women, and I love supporting female-owned businesses.

Summersalt Bathing Suit Cons:

Let’s get into some of the things I don’t love about Summersalt…

Fit on new styles can be off:

I’ve noticed that sometimes when Summersalt launches a new style, the fit can be a bit off. For example, when they first launched this top in a red/orange color block style, the straps would not stay up for me. They kept rolling down and off my shoulders—it was weird.

I have no idea if they’ve fixed that for this style or not, but I ended up giving my tops in this style away because they weren’t comfortable. Fortunately, they do offer free returns and exchanges, so you can try on pieces at home to make sure you like them.

Frumpy styles:

I love a lot of Summersalt’s styles, but tbh I think some of their pieces are kinda frumpy and boring. Like for $100 this just feels pretty plain to me. Ditto on this one. But as I mentioned, they do have a lot of cute styles, and especially now that they’ve expanded a bunch, there are a lot of options.

Some suits don’t have padding:

I do think that more of their swimsuits could use some built-in padding. I have the swan dive in black and white and when I’m cold, you’re getting a bit fat hello from my nipples. Some bikini tops like the sidestroke bikini top do have built-in padding, so I’m not sure why others don’t.

Their clothing is not cute:

I hate to say it, but a lot of Summersalt’s clothing is just…so fugly. Like what is this? They used to be swimwear only, and as they’ve tried to expand for clothing it’s pretty much been a miss for me.

I’ve also tried some of their loungewear in this material and while it was very soft, it clung to every dimple on my legs and butt and that was just not very flattering.

That’s it for my Summersalt swimwear review! If you’re considering buying some of their swimsuits, I think you’ll love them.
