Ingredients in a Moscow Mule: Low-Cal Version
Just in time for summer, I’m sharing the ingredients in a Moscow Mule and the perfect light recipe!
The refreshing, fizzy, and tart Moscow Mule is one of my favorites. And the best part? The copper mug it comes in!
This recipe is for a healthy “mule makeover” and I actually love it more than the original.
I wanted to share a low-cal version of a Moscow mule, including all the ingredients to use.
We swapped the ginger beer for a cleaner—and often easier to find!—ingredient that saves over ten grams of sugar per cocktail: ginger kombucha.
Moscow Mules are traditionally made with vodka but I’m using tequila (or you could try Bourbon to make a Kentucky Mule!). Have fun experimenting with your liquor!
With summer approaching and lots of outdoor hangs coming up, I’m planning on experimenting with some other Moscow Mule recipes too—like peach or lavender Moscow Mules!
But for now, we’ll stick with this lightened up, classic version.
Here’s everything you’ll need for ingredients in a Moscow Mule—the low-cal version! Cheers!
- ½ ounce lime juice (+ sliced lime to garnish)
- 1 ½ ounces tequila
- 4 oz ginger kombucha
- Sparkling water
- 1 sprig mint
- Crushed ice
1. Combine tequila and lime juice in mug and stir to mix.
2. Fill your mug with crushed ice, then add kombucha and top with sparkling water. Stir well to combine.
3. For the garnish—slice lime thinly cross-wise then poke a sprig of mint through the center of the lime slice. Float in each cocktail and serve immediately.
Note: To make crushed ice, place a few handfuls of ice into a food processor and pulse!
Note: Ensure your mug is lined with stainless steel and nickel because the ingredients in this cocktail are acidic and can dissolve pure copper, making it toxic. 💀 So let’s not do that, mkay?
