Che Fico Alimentari

Che Fico Alimentari review by blogger What The Fab

Ever since Anderson Cooper dined at Che Fico and declared the pizza as something to rave about, I’ve been dying to experience this new restaurant in San Francisco. And while I still haven’t eaten at Che Fico and it’s on my SF restaurant bucket list, we did recently get to experience Che Fico Alimentari, newly opened this summer.

Che Fico Alimentari is the downstairs sister restaurant to Che Fico, and you guys, it is killer. In Italy, an alimentari is a cute little market that usually sells wine and delicious foods and sandwiches. So between the vibe and the amazing food, going to Che Fico Alimentari really made me feel like I was back in Roma.

We started off with their focaccia with whipped mascarpone, which was completely off the hook delicious. I mean first of all, give me their whipped mascarpone with a spoon and I’d literally eat it like that, but paired with their mouthwatering focaccia makes it just out of this world. This one is a must to start with when dining here!

Next, we shared a couple of different meat and cheese plates, including their Lonza salumi with Asian pears, and their stracciatella with pear, pomegranate, and pistachio. We loved both of them but I would definitely say that the stracciatella is another must at Che Fico Alimentari—it was pretty much to die for.

And of course, you have to try some of their pasta from the Primi section of their menu. The Bucatini Cacio e Pepe is what pasta dreams are made of, and I really wish I had ordered my own and didn’t have to share with Omied. ?

While we were dining our server expertly helped us pair a couple of wines by the glass for us to enjoy, because you can’t go to an Italian wine bar this excellent and not have some vino!

You can also shop to-go items from here (it’s an alimentari, after all), so feel free to grab some housemade salumi and bread to take home. I saw a girl pop in just to get some ice cream, which is fabulous btw. And while we’re on the topic of desserts, you can’t miss the tiramisu!

We absolutely loved our experience at Che Fico Alimentari and it’s made its way to the top of my best Italian restaurants in SF list (which is currently a mental list but I’m working on making things official with a blog post) and we will definitely be coming back again soon. Next time I’d love to try their suckling pig for two, served with yukon gold potato and garlic confit. Are you drooling yet?? Better book that reservation on OpenTable.
