About

Hello! Thanks for visiting What The Fab, a fashion and travel site inspired by my life’s adventures and appreciation for the finer things in life. I’m Elise, a San Franciscan, Googler, and social media addict finding fabulous in the everyday. I started What The Fab back in 2012, and since then have been blown away with how much the influencer landscape has changed. If you told me back then that I’d be getting to work with huge brands that I love (like Virgin, lululemon, Airbnb, and Nordstrom, to name a few), I probably would have laughed in your face. But that’s the thing with the internet, it’s a fickle thing where change is mandatory and swift, and I’m just along for the ride.

I pour my heart and soul into creating content for What The Fab, and my goal (beyond just adding a bright spot to your Instagram feed) is to inspire you to live a little bolder, and a little fuller every day. Especially during such difficult times where I feel like every time I check my phone there’s a new notification about something that angers me or breaks my heart, I think we could all use a little lift and escapism. While I do keep things light and inspirational on What The Fab, occasionally you’ll see me dive into deeper issues, because at the end of the day this is my platform, and I believe that you can be of both substance and style.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’m always flattered and humbled when someone takes an interest in my blog enough to write me a note asking me questions about it. Here are answers to the most frequently asked questions I receive.

How would you describe your personal style?

Inspirational, yet approachable. I believe that anyone can attain fabulous style, no matter what their budget. I love to combine pieces from all different price points. In one outfit, it’s normal to see me wearing an H&M dress, thrifted boots and toting along a Chanel bag.

How did you start blogging?

Fresh out of grad school, I started working at a boutique communications consulting agency here in San Francisco, as a Marketing Manager. I’d always wanted to start a blog, but never really knew how. Working in marketing taught me how to manage an editorial calendar, do basic HTML coding, set up URLs and redirects, and also helped hone my writing skills. Since I finally had all the tools I needed to start a blog, I figured I had no excuse not to! And so, What The Fab was born.

What do you do at Google?

I’m on our Tech Programs & Events team, which means I do branding and program management for Google’s hiring events. I love my job for the opportunities I have to be creative and to travel, and for the wonderful people I get to work with every day.

Who takes your photographs?

Unless otherwise noted in the post, my wonderful husband Omied takes my blog photos. His photography has grown leaps and bounds since I started this blog in 2012. His skill have gotten so good, that we’ve started a photography business together, Arvin Studios. He gets hired by product companies and for events in the Bay Area, and occasionally I get to style his shoots too! We absolutely love working together and I think it’s such a dream that we get to support each other in our crafts.

May I use your photos on my site?

Of course! Please just make sure to link back to my blog as my images are all copyrighted.
