Hotel Danieli Venezia

hotel danieli venezia

Ohhhh man am I excited to share some photos and a review from the gorgeous Hotel Danieli Venezia today! We stayed here for the Venice leg of our Italy trip, and this luxury collection hotel (part of Marriott) is truly a gem. Coming from the United States where we don’t have old palaces as hotels, this was such a unique experience. It was so special and we felt so lucky to stay in this gorgeous hotel!

Hotel Danieli has a super interesting history. The hotel is actually made up of several buildings, and the main building was the palace that was originally commissioned in the 14th century by the noble Venetian family, The Dandolos. There were four members of the Dandolo family who served as the Doge of Venice, so you know their palace was fly.

Hotel Danieli Venezia

Location
The Danieli’s location in Venice is absolutely ideal and very centrally located. The hotel is situated on Riva degli Schiavoni, a waterfront in San Marco, but not just anywhere in San Marco. It’s practically connected to the Doge’s Palace (the hotel used to be one of the Doge’s palace, after all), and just steps away from Piazza San Marco. You can easily walk to all the tourist attractions in hardly any time at all.

Getting to Hotel Danieli was super easy too. Once we arrived at the train station, we just hopped on the ferry and made our way down the Grand Canal. The drop off point for San Marco is just a couple minutes walk away, so you don’t have to lug your bags too far.

Rooms
Oh em gee, we LOVED our room at the Danieli! First of all, if you’re able to get a room in the main palace, you absolutely must. You will literally feel like you’re staying in a palace bedroom in Versailles. Because this part of the hotel used to be a palace, instead of your usual hotel hallways, the rooms are off of large foyers that open up into the middle courtyard. It is stunning.

We were upgraded to a Grand Dandolo Suite, and it was fabulous. Our room’s color scheme was soft pastel blues, with opulent chandeliers, silk curtains, and draping around the bed. There was antique furniture and portraits throughout the room and it was just lovely. It was so nice to have a separate living area with a couch and several comfortable arm chairs, and the chic black and white marble bathroom felt so luxurious. All of the rooms have air conditioning, which is especially clutch during the hot summer months.

As you’ll see if you check out the rooms online, they all look a bit different. Their luxury rooms are available as lagoon view rooms or sans view, and some of those with a lagoon view have balconies. Even their standard rooms (called Premium Deluxe Rooms) are lovely, with pretty Venetian decor and ornate chandeliers.

I just checked out the Doge Dandolo Royal Suite online and I can’t event. This suite is dedicated to Doge Enrico Dandolo, the 41st Doge of Venice. Holding the corner setting on the Piano Nobile of Palazzo Dandolo, it has private stand up balconies that overlooks the Venice Lagoon with views of the Grand Canal.

Breakfast
Titanium Elise can choose to enjoy complimentary breakfast at Hotel Danieli’s breakfast buffet as their welcome gift, and breakfast is absolutely the best choice. If you’re paying for breakfast, it is 53 Euro per person. Breakfast is served on the top floor at the hotel’s restaurant, Restaurant Terrazza. It was sadly raining our first couple mornings in Venice, but on our third and last day we got to sit outside on the terrace for breakfast. The views of the Grand Canal are fantastic, and it’s such a fun way to start your day. Besides an omelette bar, all the breakfast sausages, fruits, and pastries you could want, they also have a mimosa bar. Woohoo!

Restaurant Terrazza Danieli
As I mentioned the Terrazza Danieli on the top floor of the Hotel Danieli has fantastic views of the Grand Canal and the Venice Lagoon. It’s a great spot to enjoy an evening drink and snack, or for dinner. For dinner, Restaurant Terrazza serves Italian cuisine with local seafood, meat, and pasta dishes that are also fused with flavors from Asia, India and the Middle East. We didn’t get a chance to dine here ourselves, but Restaurant Terrazza Danieli has great reviews on TripAdvisor.

Hotel Danieli Venezia is one of the most beautiful hotels we’ve had the pleasure of staying at, and it was such a fun experience! You can check out dates and room rates here, and read more about the specific rooms here.
