Chances are, you’ve seen these pretty, vintage-looking bathing boxes (known as the Brighton Bathing Boxes) on your Instagram feed before. I know I had seen them and casually wondered where in the world they were. Turns out, these iconic beach huts are in Melbourne, on Brighton Beach. These little beauties were originally used as ladies’ changing rooms in the early 1800’s, but these days they’re more like the perfect Instagram backdrop. There are 90 Brighton Bathing Boxes all lined up in a row, and each one is the exact same shape and size. But as you can see, they’re all painted and decorated differently. You can also buy a bathing box, if you’re a Bayside resident and have $260k burning a hole in your pocket. 💸
We shot these photos on a really cold and rainy day in Melbourne, and we literally had to hide in the bathroom while it poured for about 30 minutes and wait for a break in the rain. So don’t let our smiles fool you…we’re really cold in these Brighton Bathing Boxes pics. 😂 I reallllly wanted to fly our drone here because I knew shots of the Brighton bathing boxes and beach from above would turn out awesome, but it was so damn windy that our poor little drone couldn’t handle it and we weren’t able to fly. Boo.
I wore this striped UNIQLO dress a lot during my travels—it’s lightweight linen and super comfy. And only $40, so what’s not to love about that??
